Trip to Bradenton/Sarasota
Who would have thought this trip to Bradenton/Sarasota in April would lead to us moving to the area a few months later? We left on the first Sunday of April vacation. What a nightmare. Logan was a zoo. First they had a couple of the parking areas closed so only central parking was open. We had to park on the roof and it was a hike to the elevator. The security line was wrapped around the whole terminal. Luckily we printed out our luggage tags at one of the kiosks and had electronic boarding passes. Of course as we were almost at the end of the security line a worker tells us that we were able to go in the faster line. We’re still not sure why we had that feature on our boarding passes. The line moved quickly and we only had to show our license. Thought we’d never make the flight but we did. The flight itself was uneventful. Jet Blue was giving choice of beverages and snacks but no alcohol. We lucked out and didn’t have anyone sitting next to me on the flight down to FL. The Sarasota airport was also extremely busy. Dh waited for the luggage and he told me to hop in line for the rental car. Thank god I did as the line got really long and it took forever to get the rental car. We got a very small car. When we left the airport we drove right to the Motorworks Brewery. It’s a huge brewery with a lot of outdoor space. We sat outside. It was very busy as they were doing some dog event. There were tons of dogs. Dh got a flight. I got the lactose bacillus, a sour weisse. I wasn’t a fan. After that I got a 4oz of the Belgium golden winter ale. I didn’t care for that either. Matt liked their beers. We got an order of buffalo wings. They were good, but nothing special. It took forever to get our food since they were so busy. Apparently some of the food comes from a food truck and other food comes from the kitchen. Our server was from Worcester so that was cool.
We left there and went to Publix to get some groceries for our stay. Then we got to the rental house. We rented through vrbo. It was a large house with 3 beds and 2 baths. It was much more than what we needed but we figured what the hell. It was a really nice updated house, very close to a school in a nice neighborhood. Dh went right in the pool and I hung outside. The sun was in and out but it was warm. We went to Mr. Tequila for dinner. That was disappointing. We sat at the bar. Dh got a huge margarita for $15. He didn’t realize how big it was going to be. I had a corona. They gave us chips and salsa. The salsa was very watery and terrible which was fine so we had more room for dinner. We had also made some guac at the house pre-dinner. I got the enchiladas rojas. Dh got steak fajitas. I thought the food was just okay. We also got fried ice cream. Dh said the food was good. He had a tequila on the rocks before we left. I think he was just drunk so the food didn’t matter too much. Total was $65 before tip. To be continued…
