Pho Pasteur
Last Friday’s dinner out was at Pho Pasteur in Quincy. Their original location is in Boston. I have fond memories of this restaurant when I went to college. It was a cheap meal that warmed you up on a cold day. They opened up the Quincy location about a year ago so I figured it was time to try it. We walked in about 7:30pm on a Friday night and only a few tables were full. After reading the menu quickly we decided to take a seat at the bar. A waiter came over though there was an older man tending bar. He asked what we’d like. We started to give our drink orders and he said we had to talk to the bartender. He only took the food order. Okay. We ordered some chicken wings and then gave our drink orders to the bar tender. I was thoroughly entertained watching him for the rest of the evening as he carefully concocted many different drinks. One of them had green jello in it. The wings came cooked very well. There were quite a few of them but I thought they were kind of bland. My husband said that’s what the sauce was for, but I didn’t want to put anything on them. After finishing those up we decided to try the beef with mixed veggies. It was good, but nothing that knocked my socks off. Then I decided to try an avocado drink that I saw the guy making for another customer. It was just avocado, milk, condensed milk and some ice. Pretty good. I think I’ll try it at home. At any rate, I don’t think we’ll be running back here unless we want pho. That is what the place is named for after all.
