42 Degrees North
I’m going to start by saying I really like this restaurant. Dh and I have been here many times. That being said they always seem to bang something up. Tonight luckily it wasn’t our food, but the people sitting at the bar next to us. Apparently it took 45 minutes for them to get their food and once it came out they refused it. Not sure why they refused it, I guess just to make a point. Although, they must have left hungry. On this most recent visit, we sat at their outside bar. There’s no view, but it’s a cute bar with seats on all four sides and heating lamps overhead. Inside they have a nice bar as well. We ordered drinks and an app, the spicy clams with chorizo that comes in a broth. It’s very good, we have had it before as well. They give you a couple pieces of toasted bread to dip in the broth. Yum. Then we put in our dinner orders. I got the steak tips with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I’ve also had this before. Their tips are extremely flavorful, tender and cooked perfectly. Dh got the special which was a stripped bass with roasted potatoes and snap peas. I’ve had this before as well. Everything was delicious. He ate everything. I had a couple tips and some mashed potatoes to bring home. Other things we’ve tried here include the swordfish, clam chowder, chicken parm, and NY strip. I’ve never had a bad meal. One time the chowder was cold but they gave us a new one as soon as we let them know. Last time we were here we waited forever. It was a good hour before we got our food. They ended up taking something off the bill. Another time they screwed up our drinks. The service leaves a little to be desired but the food is definitely worth it. This place isn’t cheap either. On this visit, 2 glasses of wine, 2 manhattans, the app, and 2 entrees was $113 before tip. I forgot to take a pic of the clams but here’s everything else.
