A couple more Plymouth breweries
Last Saturday we went to our favorite Marshfield beach. After a couple hours there we got cleaned up and headed down to Plymouth. We scored a parking spot on the main drag and walked down to Plymouth Beer Company. This brewery shares a space with dirty water distillery. There are about 5 stools along their bar and not a lot of other space. They don’t sell beers by the pint or half pint. They give free samples and fill growlers. They had three different beers which were all good, a saison, a summer and an anniversary beer called one. I really liked the summer and “one” a lot. I wish they had beers for sale as I totally would’ve had a pint of the summer. At the distillery, they give free samples of all their liquors, vodka, rum and whiskey. They have some interesting flavors such as horseradish. They even make a whiskey with “boat for sale”, one of the beers at local brewery Indie Ferm. There was one guy pouring the samples. At first we were the only people in there. Then another couple came in so we chatted with them a bit.
After that, we walked over to Second Wind Brewery (http://www.secondwindbrewing.com) which we had never been to before. They have a small bar with five stools and an outdoor beer garden. The whole place is pretty small. Matt had a flight and I had a 16oz of their “howland at the moon”, a wit beer. It was pretty good, but I wasn’t expecting such a huge beer. It’s kind of funny that they use muffin tins for their flights as there’s a brewery in Everett (which opened first) that does the same thing. Someone brought it up and one of the guys said “oh yeah, guys from that brewery came here last night and commented on the muffin tins.” Hey, it’s a great idea. You even have a spot for your snacks. See pretzels below. After his flight, Dh tried a sample of the “dad bod” which is a cream ale. That was pretty tasty too and I liked the name. I appreciate when the brewers get creative with the names. Here there were 3 guys working behind the bar and it was really busy. There had to be about 25 people or more including a few kids and dogs. They also had a food truck there selling tacos though we didn’t have any. We were heading to dinner after this brewery. Luckily there are tons of restaurants within walking distance.
