Kkaties…the best burgers anywhere
After leaving the breweries last week we had to get dinner so we went to Kkaties (http://www.kkaties.com). This is our absolute favorite place to get burgers. After our recent trip to Italy the only thing I was craving was a Kkaties burger. And it was like heaven, if heaven tastes like burgers. They have 4 locations, Quincy, Plymouth, Marshfield, and Hyannis. We’ve only been to the Plymouth and Marshfield locations. But it’s always consistent. The only downside to this restaurant is that it’s small. We always sit at the bar when we can. Besides the bar which probably has about 15 seats (maybe less) there are about 6 or 7 high top tables and then two regular size tables. At the Marshfield location they have a very small patio area outside as well, but there’s nothing to look at. Honestly I’m not sure why anyone would want to sit outside, unless there was a long wait inside.
On our most recent visit we got an order of buffalo wings and then we each got a burger. I had my usual, the Kmac. This is a burger with lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles and a thousand island dressing type of sauce like if you got a big mac at you know where. But, it’s a thousand million times better. Their burgers are a half pound of angus beef. Recently I learned that you can actually ask for quarter pounders. News to me. Some elderly people sat next to me at the bar and ordered them. I’ll stick with my half pounder even though I probably should get the smaller one. My dogs would kill me if I didn’t come home with a couple bites for them. Matt had the BBQ burger. For some reason this doesn’t come with lettuce and tomato so he always asks them to add that. It does come with cheese, bacon and onion rings. Sometimes I add bacon to mine. Both were delicious. I’ve also tried the bacon cheese burger and the Kkrunch burger. The kkrunch comes with chips (hence the crunch), cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, a roasted garlic dip, lettuce and tomato. It’s pretty good too, but a little much for me. I just wanted to try it for the novelty of it.
Now when you order your burger, you don’t say you want it well done (you should never ever ever ask for a burger or steak well done anyway), or medium or medium rare, etc. You say “some pink” or “no pink.” For your sides, the burgers come with regular fries, but you can get sweet potato fries, or chips, tater tots or onion rings instead. The burgers are all supposed to come with a pickle spear as well, but they have been slacking lately on including that. Not sure if there’s a pickle shortage or if they were throwing away a lot of pickles. Either way, we always ask now for them to include it. The burgers are so juicy, they just run down your hands and arms. Fortunately they give you wet wipes for after you’re done. This place has ruined me now on burgers. I can never order a burger anywhere else now because it’s never as good. Hopefully I’ve convinced you to give one of their locations a shot.
Of course I forgot to take a picture when I first got it. Here’s half my burger. The first half was already in my belly.
